​Figuring out the exact amount of storage space you are going to need is not always so simple, particularly if you are renting for the first time. To make sure you don’t end up getting a unit that is too large or too small for your needs, we’ve come up with a visual guide to help you determine how much space you are going to need.

Storage units are the size of a small walk-in closet. It fits furnishings of a mid-sized bedroom, including a queen-sized bed, a dresser, a TV and several small to medium-sized boxes.

Self storage units can hold the contents of a two bedroom apartment. They are about the space of a large family room, or two extra bedrooms. These spaces is large enough for many items: a mattress set, bookcases, tables and dressers, sofas and appliances could fit in these spaces.

Storage units have the space to accommodate the furnishings from a two- or three-bedroom apartment. It can fit larger items such as a piano, couches, tables, or large-screen TVs, plus several medium to large-sized boxes.
